CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
Project Engineers are office-based professionals who work closely with Project Managers and frequently engage with the site team in the field, playing a key role in the construction process. They collaborate with superintendents and project managers on tasks such as estimating, scheduling, subcontractor buy-out, and managing project documentation and tracking. This includes, but is not limited to, submittal management, RFIs, RFPs, and COs. Project Engineers understand the design intent and apply practical knowledge of field operations to effectively collaborate with the project team, architects, vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Collaborate with project manager and superintendent to build according to plan and specifications
Maintain positive relationships and clearly communicate with clients, partners, designers, field team, and subcontractors
Assist with cost estimating and take-offs, coordinate subcontractor quotes, materials pricing
Requesting quotes
Sending scopes of work to subcontractors
Sending plans and documents
Uploading plans to Procore
Project engineering (office)
Issuing RFIs
Managing documents
Sending out submittals for approval
Reviewing shop drawings
Purchasing products and services from vendors and subcontractors
Project engineering (field)
Update daily logs
Update punchlist
Sketching details to document an existing condition or a possible solution
Construction progress photo documentation
Printing and distribution of sketches
Distribution of information to subcontractors and superintendents
Meeting minutes
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE:
3+ years of residential construction experience
Construction Management degree or other relevant education plus experience
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
Possess creative problem solving skills
Excellent communication, attention to detail and follow through
Ingenuity based on technical, materials and detailing knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Procore, Google Drive, Asana
Be able to work well with others
Strong work ethic
Knowledge of tools, methods, materials and building sites
All work needs to be done with accuracy and care
Approach work understanding that small details matter
