SUPERINTENDENT

SUMMARY OF PURPOSE

The Superintendent is responsible for supervising construction projects to achieve goals within set time and budget constraints while adhering to the construction drawings and documents. They work closely with the project manager to lead the building team and maintain effective communication with office personnel, project accountants, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants. Our superintendents are responsible for all phases of construction, from site preparation to project closeout, while upholding the highest standards of quality control. Requires strong leadership, communication, and time management skills. Must possess technical expertise and computer proficiency, with demonstrated ability to forecast needs and effectively manage budgets and schedules. Should be a proven leader, team player, and mentor with a track record of successfully managing subcontractors and carpentry crews. Must deliver excellent customer service and communicate clearly and professionally with project managers, architects, and clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Quality control for layout

  • Ensure that all works is held to high standards of accuracy and is both plumb and straight

  • Ensure effective management of project schedule

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the team, clients, and other stakeholders

  • When presented with Incomplete design information ability to be creative, flexible and help facilitate actionable consensus how to proceed

  • Approach challenges and changes with a proactive and adaptable mindset

  • Contribute to project estimating and pre-construction planning

  • Collaborate with estimators and site superintendents to optimize costs

  • Develop and update project schedules with the project manager, including three week look ahead schedules

  • Oversee subcontractors, suppliers and vendors

  • Maintain a clean, well organized jobsite

  • Schedule and conduction inspections with the local building department, soils engineers and structural engineers.

  • Update daily logs

  • Contribute to company growth and community engagement initiatives

  • Assist in the onboarding of new staff

  • Serve as a liaison to the service department when necessary

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5 years of high-end residential construction experience required

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications

  • Possess creative problem solving skills

  • Excellent communication, team-building, and mentoring skills

  • Ingenuity based on technical, materials and detailing knowledge

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Procore, Google Drive, Asana

  • Be able to work well with others

  • Strong work ethic

  • Knowledge of tools, methods, materials and building sites

  • All work needs to be done with accuracy and care

  • Lead, mentor, and positively motivate construction crews.

  • Foster a strong team environment.

  • Approach work understanding that small details matter
